Dynamic Earth, Canada’s eighth largest science centre, is in Greater Sudbury’s west end and home to the world-famous Big Nickel!

SENSORY FRIENDLY HALLOWEEN
Join us on October 20ᵀᴴ and October 27ᵀᴴ for sensory friendly Halloween at Dynamic Earth. Starting 1 hour early at 6:00pm and running all evening! This will include:
- The Epiroc Theatre as a quiet space
- Music will be turned off
- The Underground Tour will feature adjusted sounds and lights
- Lapidary machines are not running on these days
And just like our regular Sensory Sundays, all sounds, lights, and activities will be adjusted — enjoy Pumpkinferno your way!
UNDERGROUND MINE TOUR
Add on a not so spooky, family-friendly underground mine tour* to your Halloween experience! Descend 7-storeys underground with our guided tour that takes you through the evolution of mining from turn-of-the-century to modern day.
* Tours last approximately one hour and fifteen minutes. The underground mine tour is free for Science North members.

- 🪵 WOOD BURNING: Wood burn magnets in fun fall and Halloween shapes! Plus, learn about the science of wood burning and how it works.

Nina Nesseth is a professional science communicator (M.Sc. Comm) whose special interest lies at the intersection of human biology and popular culture. She is the author of NIGHTMARE FUEL: THE SCIENCE OF HORROR FILMS (Tor Nightfire, 2022), which dissects the psychology and physiology of how audiences engage with horror films, as well as co-author of THE SCIENCE OF ORPHAN BLACK: THE OFFICIAL COMPANION (ECW, 2017). No. Our underground mine tour is not scary and is appropriate for all ages. It is not the Tunnel of Terror from years past. This is our standard underground mine tour that goes over the evolution of mining.
