Discovering Chimpanzees: The Remarkable World of Jane Goodall Special Exhibit - Back From Its Successful North-American Tour
Now Showing at Science North

Calgary, Winnipeg, Portland, Denver, Omaha, Chicago, Indianapolis, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Baltimore, Raleigh, Atlanta, Boston. What do these cities have in common? They've all had the opportunity to experience Science North's special exhibit, Discovering Chimpanzees: The Remarkable World of Jane Goodall. While Science North's staff scientists were developing the exhibit, Dr. Goodall was greatly involved in the process. She had her first tour of the exhibit in May of 2002 at Science North and delighted Sudburians with her warmth, compassion, intelligence, and humility. Since then thousands all over North America have visited the exhibit to learn about Dr. Goodall and the wonderful chimpanzees she has studied for 46 years.

Science North Gratefully Acknowledges Donors to Dynamic Earth Phase 2 Campaign

Dynamic Earth Phase 2 will open in March 2007 and will incorporate the new digital, high-definition Atlas Copco Theatre, new programming and workshop space, a new Inco Chasm multimedia show, exhibit changes and an expanded lobby.  The goal of the Dynamic Earth Phase 2 Capital Campaign is to raise $4.2 million from government, corporate donors and the public. This investment will greatly enhance Dynamic Earth's ability to highlight the important role that mining and earth sciences play, and to attract and inspire the audiences from which future mining professionals will come.  We extend our sincere appreciation to all the donors.

Science North Portion of Jim Gordon Walkway Under Renovation Beginning October 23rd

Science North is about to begin a renovation project that will update and renew its aging floating dock.  To facilitate this renovation, the entire Science North portion of the Jim Gordon Walkway will be closed effective Monday, October 23, 2006. Although Science North regrets the inconvenience this temporary closure may cause, the work is necessary to ensure the continued safety of all users of the boardwalk. The work is expected to be completed (and the new floating dock re-opened) by mid May of 2007.

Thank you for being a member of Science North.
Your continued support helps us to develop new exhibits and programming.

We love to hear from our members!  Recently a Local Family Member exclaimed that membership with Science North is, "…the best thing we've done!"  (Glad to hear it,  Elizabeth!)  If you have any comments about membership or this newsletter, please e-mail them to  koski@sciencenorth.ca.

We hope to see you soon at Science North!
