Made up of four separate themes, this stunning exhibit brings you to the African tropical forest. Enter the world of the chimpanzee through a large façade, recreating the look and feel of Gombe National Park. Sound and visual effects transport you from an urban environment to the forest environment of the chimps. |
The Chimp Forest
In the Chimp Forest, you can “Walk Like a Chimp” and “Climb Into a Chimp Nest”. On-site videos will provide you with instruction for these chimp behaviours. Learn to “Talk Like a Chimp” through a customized computer program and video instruction from Jane Goodall herself. We’ll even give you feedback on your success! |
The Work of Jane Goodall
Using field notes, photographs, video clips and other artifacts, Jane’s 40 years of research will come alive for you. In Jane’s small home in Gombe, authentically recreated in an intimate theatre setting, Jane will bring you on a journey through some of her most memorable achievements and milestones during her four decades of research. |
Primates
This theme explores the Order of Primates. Learn about each of the twelve families of primates, their habitats, and threats to their survival. Compare your physical characteristics to those of other primates. Are you taller than an orangutan or stronger than a gibbon? You can also join in a Primate Reunion – a perfect spot for a “family” photo! |
Reason for Hope
Much of Jane Goodall’s recent work is focused on the future. This theme includes activities and displays that celebrate the successful initiatives of individuals who have taken action to deal with environmental and societal issues. Be inspired by Jane, with a life-sized video image and her message of hope. |
