Dr. Jane Goodall DBE, Founder of the Jane Goodall Institute and UN Messenger of Peace, will speak at two events in Sudbury on September 23, 2009. The upcoming speaking engagements are part of ongoing events being held to mark Science North’s 25th anniversary year.
"We are very proud of the fact that Dr. Jane Goodall, who was here in 2002 to help us launch the Science North special exhibition Discovering Chimpanzees: The Remarkable World of Jane Goodall, will be returning to Sudbury in September to help us celebrate our science centre’s 25th anniversary and the 10th anniversary of the Roots & Shoots conference,” said Jim Marchbank, Science North CEO. “Dr. Goodall will make a presentation to students from across Northern Ontario in the morning, and address a crowd of up to 1,500 people during a public lecture, being held at Glad Tidings Tabernacle, in the evening."

10th Anniversary of the Sudbury Roots & Shoots Conference

Schools from across Northern Ontario are encouraged to register for the 10th Anniversary Roots & Shoots conference before the end of this school year.
The Roots & Shoots conference is a program initiated by the Jane Goodall institute. The goal of Roots & Shoots conferences are to help youth develop the leadership and skills to carry out community service projects.
Science North has been hosting Roots & Shoots conferences since 1999, and will celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Sudbury program – the longest running program in Canada -- on September 23, 2009.
Dr. Jane Goodall will be the keynote speaker at this event, which expects to host 800 students.
