Small awards program
To complement Genome: Unlocking Life's Code, the NHGRI, NMNH and the Smithsonian Associates partnered to develop a series of educational programs, including lectures, symposia, panels and social gatherings. The programs promoted lively conversations among participants, genomic leaders, scientists, scholars and artists about the field of genomics. The NHGRI is seeking to capitalize upon the success the educational programming and expand the impact of Genome: Unlocking Life's Code. NHGRI would like to collaborate with venues hosting the exhibition and provide them with small awards ($25,000) that will help to support their public programming efforts. Venues will be encouraged to work in partnership with local agencies and institutions to develop unique, public-centered programming that will help the public articulate what genomics is and why it matters.
