Our Project Approach

We are truly excited by each new project and passionate about communicating with visitors in a fun and interactive way. We especially enjoy learning from our clients, while working with them to understand and realize their goals. We select project team members from our roster of specialists on the basis of the specific challenges of each assignment, assembling the team that will work best for you. With our flexible and responsive staff and partners, we manage projects of any magnitude and in any location.

Upon completing the conceptual development of our projects, we communicate the envisaged experience in clear and concise terms. What will visitors encounter, respond to, learn about, be moved by, laugh at, see, do, hear, smell, touch or even taste? What characters will they encounter? What tools will they manipulate? What environments will they find themselves in? This is communicated to you with a detailed document and the tools to share your vision with your community and key stakeholders.

Co-Development with Client

We are strong believers in teamwork, and we welcome the opportunity to work creatively with you and your team. Listening is an essential communication component of our role. Only by listening can we understand your vision, needs and project goals. Our goal is to over-deliver on your expectations To function effectively, we will establish clear, active and respectful lines of communication among members of the team. We will follow a tried and tested methodology that facilitates a collaborative approach while keeping the project moving forward.

Storytelling, Meaning and Showmanship

At Science North, we believe that speaking the language of everyday people is vital to communicating your vision. Exciting and entertaining visitors is key to imparting complex concepts in a readily understandable and indelible way.

Three words guide our creative process:

Storytelling

The story is fundamental to our work, providing the narrative structure and driving force of the visitor experience. In early consultations with clients and their stakeholders, we seek out the stories waiting to be told.

Meaning

Every story contains a core message, an insight fundamental to the exchange between the teller and the listener. We work with you to seek out potent messages that are meaningful to and emotionally resonant with visitors. The best way to engage people, regardless of their age or level of educational attainment, is to relate the content to their everyday lives. The message must be interesting and relevant to have meaning.

Showmanship

Attractions must have what Science North calls the "WOW" factor. This quality of entertainment and fun drives home messages and generates the positive word-of-mouth that attracts new and repeat visitors. Science North makes an impact on the audience by designing memorable and entertaining experiences, whether implementing technology in special effects and animatronics, or using simple, everyday objects in creative new ways.
