For 25 years the Science North team has been one of the world's leading creators of award-winning, high impact visitor experiences for people of all ages. By harnessing the creative strength of our communication experts, our staff create unparalleled experiences for science centres and museums worldwide.
In 1996, Science North created a specialized unit to sell the award-winning exhibitions and multimedia theatres that are created by our science centre’s highly-skilled staff scientists and in-house production teams. Recognizing an industry need, Science North began selling its popular exhibits to other science centres seeking to provide interesting, and thought-provoking experiences to their visitors.
Success soon followed, and the Science North team expanded its offerings to include our signature object theatres and large format films to organizations beyond the world of science centres. Drawing on the strong communication and interpretation skills of Science North production staff, the team also began customizing multimedia theatres for private and public visitor-based organizations.
Science North’s exhibit sales and consulting business, and the Large Format Film unit, draws on the expertise of Science North's highly skilled staff scientists and in-house production teams to create award-winning exhibitions, multimedia theatres and giant screen films for domestic and international audiences. Profits are directed into exhibit development and renewal…and that means visitors can enjoy a dynamic and ever-changing experience when they come to Science North and Dynamic Earth.
Travelling exhibits attract visitors to Northern Ontario, they increase the length of stay, attract repeat audiences, and make Science North and Dynamic Earth more appealing to visitors. They then go on to tour throughout North America for five years. In the case of the Discovering Chimpanzees: The Remarkable World of Jane Goodall exhibit, the tour was expanded to seven years.
Science North's acclaimed multimedia attractions include Object Theatres, Special Effects Shows and Immersive 4D Theatres. These experiential attractions are ideal for those seeking a high impact way to connect and communicate with their audiences.
Science North produced multimedia attractions are fully automated theatre experiences combining film and video, multiple screens, artifacts and objects, automated lighting, animatronics, lasers and other multi-sensory effects such as scene-setting smells and water-based effects to simulate rain or snow.
These attractions are ideal for telling a story and involving the audience. They provide the opportunity to tackle broad themes and specific messages in a format able to reach audiences of all kinds. They can also be used to showcase museum artifacts and specimens in an exciting and meaningful way.
Science North has created multimedia attractions for its own science centres, and for other venues worldwide including: 'Imiloa Astronomy Center of Hawaii, Glasgow Science Centre, Singapore Science Centre, The Tech Museum of Innovation, Philadelphia Zoo, Canadian Museum of Nature, Audubon Nature Institute Insectarium, and many more.
